Greetings friends,

Tammy and I aren’t leaving…we’re not going anywhere. In fact, we are blending into our surroundings here in Arusha like an old rug in front of a fireplace. We’re worn a bit…but really it feels like we are kind of just hitting our stride. 🙂

We’ve always been about empowering leaders to impact their spheres of influence with the Gospel. It’s our DNA.

But now it is so fun as we are able to empower leaders to run with the vision and leadership of Wild Hope itself. We know Wild Hope is called to be bigger than us and last longer than us. And the cool thing is Tammy and I are watching with awe as the Father orchestrates the building of the next generation of leaders here at Wild Hope. Millennials and Gen Z’ers are smart! And God has brought us ones who have hearts after God and a desire to see His Kingdom come here on earth as it is in Heaven.

Here are some of the wonderful teams we get to work with.

Our Operations Team

Our Operations Team is amazing. From accounting to administration to project management, these guys are efficient and passionate about making Wild Hope’s systems and procedures run with excellence.

In this picture you see Janet, our Accountant; Philemon, our National Operations Director; Lugano, our Administrator; and Noeli, our Base Manager. We praise God for each of these gifted individuals that God has raised up for His work here.

Our Missions Team

These guys are where the rubber meets the road…discipleship, reaching the unreached, youth empowerment and education, and member care of indigenous workers.

From left to right, Sarah and Solomon Kipi are bringing the Gospel to the unreached. James Kukan is a key player in bringing Christian education to Northern Tanzania. Tammy and Peter are casting vision. Lulu King’ori is our lead in our discipleship and mentoring of the next generation. And the Hood family (Megan and Jared and their daughters Charlotte and Addilyn) are pouring their energy into member care for indigenous pastors and their families.

Our Wild Hope Retreat and Training Center Team

These guys are our secret sauce: hospitality, security, administration, gardening, and maintenance, all done with the love of Jesus.

Again and again, visitors to Wild Hope who have come to rest and seek the Father for their ministry, express how the staff have impacted their stay here in little ways and big ways. Their joy in Jesus, kindness, and attention create a strong foundation of hope for all who visit.

NextGenL: Happening Now

In June, over 100 Maasai youth came together for our second Awakening Youth Conference in Matale. It was a wonderful time of teaching and fellowship and made even more special because Candy and Glenn Ornee, two special friends and long-term Wild Hope board members, were able to participate.

Some of you may remember praying for Nadede a few years ago, the daughter of Peter and Joloisa Kukan, when she experienced a life-threatening brain infection. Now healed and with a new direction in life, she shared her story of faith with the other youth at the Conference. You can read about this in more detail here.

Pray for these young people as they grow in faith for all that God wants to do in and through them. “One generation shall commend your works to another and shall declare your mighty acts.” Psalm 145:4

After the conference, 22 of the young people who had attended and exhibited character and hearts hungry for God were invited to attend our Next Generation Leadership (NextGenL) Retreat held at Wild Hope for four days.

Following the retreat, all 22 of the attendees signed up for our 12-Month Discipleship Program and will be working through the curriculum, which includes daily Bible study, weekly homework, and biweekly check-ins with a mentor.

A Fun Announcement!

Many of you have been asking and so…back by popular demand…Kilimanjaro Ascent 2027! Scheduled for August 4-18, 2027, Wild Hope will again be hosting a climb of the highest mountain in Africa.

Is it hard? Yes! Is it challenging? Yes! Especially summit day. But it is an unforgettable experience of a lifetime to stand together on the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

Long-term Wild Hope friend Dr. James Price will be leading the trek. This will be Jim’s eighth ascent so he knows what he’s doing! Space is limited, so sign up early.

Not only will you get to climb and adventure together with great people, but each participant will be raising $5,000 for Wild Hope’s Next Generation Discipleship! Our goal is to raise $120,000. Don’t worry about how to raise money…the team will walk you through the process and you will be fine.
