Basic Information
Who I am…
My name is Jim Price. I am a professor at Hope International University and a retired Senior Pastor of Diamond Canyon Christian Church where I served for over 37 years. I am totally committed to Wild Hope International, a first class, effective ministry in East Africa. I have visited Wild Hope often and know the Russells very well. I am excited to lead this trip for Wild Hope. I’ve led over a hundred people to successfully climb Mount Kilimanjaro giving them an incredible life experience and also raising money for missions. I am not paid in any way to organize or lead these climbs; it is my labor of love.
What the plan is…
This is an opportunity to achieve a life dream and leave a life legacy. Climbing Kilimanjaro is a major life achievement and a great thrill. From the summit, just below 20,000 feet you can see the curvature of the earth as the sun rises over the African plains. Kilimanjaro is the greatest mountain on the African continent and the largest single massif in the world. It is so big that it creates its own weather.
We will take the scenic Marangu Route. This will be one of the greatest, most memorable, vacations you have ever taken. You will never forget this experience. The cost to you for this trip is far below any other Kilimanjaro trek you could find. We use a trusted trekking organization which we have a long term relationship with. They will provide two porters per person as well as guides and cooks. No technical climbing skills are needed since there is a hiking trail all the way to the summit. You will hike through tropical rain forest all the way to the top, passing glaciers on the way. The “snows of Kilimanjaro” are real!
Cost…
The planned cost of the flight and all ground expenses inTanzania is $5,200. This includes airfare from LAX to Kilimanjaro Int’l Airport with an overnight or two in Europe, lodging in Arusha at Wild Hope, and all fees and payments for climbing Kilimanjaro including the cost of porters and all meals throughout the whole trip August 4-16, 2027.
What is required but not included is your own medical insurance including traveler’s insurance with evacuation coverage, your $100 Tanzania visa, and any personal expenditures or add-on safari expenses.
Raising money for Wild Hope’s ministry
The purpose of this trip is not just to have a wonderful adventure, but to raise funds for Wild Hope’s mission of training the next generation of African Christian leaders who are transforming Africa. The plan is for you to pay for your own trip and commit to raising $5,000 in donations to Wild Hope.
Don’t worry about the fundraising part. Yes it’s challenging but we will advise you and help you achieve your fundraising goal and we’ll be encouraging each other as a team!
Please respectfully remember that this is a fundraising endeavor and commit yourself to this aspect of the trip. The money you help raise will pay for Wild Hope’s Next Generation Discipleship. Our goal is to raise $120,000 for Wild Hope! You will not only be achieving a life-worthy dream but will also leave a life legacy that will benefit people in Africa for generations to come.

Spots are limited. If you are interested in joining us on this life adventure, you need to get a $200 deposit in right away! This and all money for the trip expenses is refundable until April 30th, 2027.

- April 30, 2027 Tickets bought and no refunds post this point – $2,000

Please make sure you indicate on the memo “Kili Fundraiser”. This will be credited to your fundraising goal so you can know how much you’ve raised to date. A tax deductible receipt will be sent to you or your sponsor who sent in the money for the fundraiser.
Refund policy upon cancellation …
We are working both with Wild Hope staff in the US as well as in Tanzania, and a trekking company that will be making arrangements in advance for your trip including making deposits to hold spots. In the event that you need to cancel your trip all of the funds you’ve sent in to Wild Hope for your trip expenses will be refunded to you unless your flight has been purchased. However funds donated to Wild Hope on your behalf for the fundraiser side of things cannot be reimbursed.

Additional Trip Possibilities:
Enjoy an add-on safari to see Tanzania’s incredible wildlife and/or beaches or fly home via Kilimanjaro (KIA) Airport.
We can get you in touch with a reputable safari company if you desire to do this after you climb. This will be at your own expense and direction.

We will be having information Zoom meetings. We will share with you regarding clothing, equipment, and physical preparation, as well as what to expect on the climb.
